Ag. Gov Umar Fintiri |
Dr Umar Ardo, one of the aspirants who participated in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for Adamawa governorship by-election on Saturday has expressed utter disappointment with the conduct of the exercise.
Ardo told newsmen on Sunday in Yola that in spite of the disappointment, he had accepted the outcome in good fate.
“I feel disappointed but I will abide by it. I even sent Fintiri a congratulatory message though he didn’t reply me,” Ardo said.
Ardo explained that his grouse with the primaries was that many people that were not supposed to participate as delegates were allowed to do so. He said local government chairmen and their deputies who recently defected from APC to PDP took part in the poll.
“We also have some House of Assembly and House of Representatives members that just joined PDP that ought not to participate by virtue of Section 9 of the party constitution, but it was overlooked.
“We raised the point and submitted petition to the panel,” Ardo said.
The results of the primaries announced by the Election Committee Chairman, Mr Dimeji Bankole on Sunday, showed that the Acting Governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, won with 624 votes.
He was trailed by Dr Ahmed Modibbo with 197 votes.
Others are Buba Marwa, 54 votes; Umar Ardo, nine votes; and Jerry Kundisi, four votes.
